Welcome to NFPtweetup!
NFPtweetup is a community of people who work at or with, charities and non-profit organisations who are interested in harnessing the power of digital and social media, and other new technologies, to achieve their strategic objectives.
NFPtweetup events take place quarterly. They are part learning, part sharing, part social, collaborative, casual and very friendly. The events are free to charities and nonprofits, and made possible by the generosity of sponsors, volunteer organisers and presenters – as well as everyone else that attends, shares insights and learnings and adds to the discussion.
The events are deliberately very different to traditional conferences and seminars, bringing charities together for peer-to-peer knowledge sharing and networking in a fun, informal setting.
The events aim to
- Provide an accessible, interactive forum for non-profits to explore the applications and possibilities of social, digital and emerging media, through hands on experience and discussion
- Introduce people to new media, tools and approaches that will help them to further their organisations’ missions
- Provide opportunities to meet others in the third sector using Twitter and other social media, to share experiences and learnings, and make new connections
- Encourage collaboration between organisations working in the Third Sector
The events originally began by using Twitter as an entry point, but quickly evolved to cover a wide range of other social media, web tools, new technologies, new concepts, models, strategies and ways of working. They also consider how to integrate on and offline media and help charities to achieve a broad range of the objectives that most share, including raising awareness, fundraising, campaigning, volunteer engagement, and client/stakeholder engagement.
The first NFPtweetup event was held in November 2008 and they have been held quarterly since. Our next event is going to be on 4th July – hope you can make it!
